Random Canada photo's

Here's just a sampling of what can be seen when you fly into Vancouver. All fo these were taken quite some time ago, I think my last trip back home.

For our first shot we have good ol' SFU.

Then we have what I could barely get of surrey, I think that blue tower is SFU-Surrey, but I could be mistaken. It certainly looks like it to me.

Then we have Stanely Park.

And finally Playland and the PNE.

Hey guys. This blog goes out to all the Chinese students who are coming over to SFU next year. Hence, I'll try to continue in Chinese. Please forgive my horrible Chinese in advance.

SFU Shell House

最后,SFU也有房子, Townhouses(左边的照片)。

Right, all done. I'm very sorry for butchering the Chinese language.

After seeing to it that the second DDP cohort of SFU has comfortably settled into their new home for the next 2 years, 谢老师 spends a day with all of us at beautiful 西湖 before flying back to Vancouver.

Panorama-rama Part II

last two panoramic shots, first one I really took because Edward told me to take it for Christine, I had my own version, which focused more on the cityscape, but after tunning this photo, which took a looooong time, I decided not to stitch together the one I did. This one isn't the best, but it's the best I could do, considering the software wasn't liking the water, or the sky for taking references of where to connect. This is from the North end of the Island looking Northward.

Here's the last one I'm posting for now, it's actually the second panorama I shot, but it has one problem, but it's not major or anything. It's even got our favourite Cynthia in the shot. :D. This one wasn't taken on the main island, but actually a smaller island NW of the main Island we went to.

Now for some normal photos :P. Here's a shot of Me and Cynthia

When we were done with the islands, we got off on the east side of the lake, around there there we plenty of performers playing music and singing.

That's all I've got so far. Tune in next time for more photo's from Devan!

Panorama-rama!

more panorama photo's as promised. We took a trip to the West Lake as a goodbye excusion for Xie Laoshi, So what better place to break out the panorama shots than on pretty cool greenage.

First shot was the largest, some minor problems when stitching it together, but I'm satisfied. This photo is of one of the docks along the lake perimeter where we took a boat to the islands in the middle of the lake.

Second favourite photo, had a bit to tune up using the panorama software, but overall turned out great, some minor focusing issues, but overall pretty good. especially good since some people in the photo were completely edited out, and I figured I'd be left with some half-person in the photo. The rest of the photo's are on one of the islands of the lake, it's roughly a shape of a circle with a cross in the middle dividing the center into four mini-lakes. This is from the Northern end of the island looking southward.

This one turned out really well considering people were moving across the bridge very quickly. I thought I'd get some problems for sure, but it looks great! This is of the Southern end of the island looking Northward.

for fun: can you spot the three clones? (really easy)

Another great shot around the island. This is from the South-Western edge of the island looking towards the center of the island.

I'll be following up with 2 other panorama's as well with 2 other normal photo's.

Home Cookin'

So, on the weekend we decided to cook up some spaghetti for dinner. We ended up using the entire jar of sauce that Cynthia had brought over from Canada to feed us all. Only sad part was that there was no sauce left over :(

Then the next moring we made pancakes! Yum :P
wasn't really enough for everyone, but since some didn't wake up for pancakes, it all worked out.

3 Canadian Girls

Cynthia, Jenny, and Karine: Cynthia is patient, sensitive and respectful and she's a good tutor. Jenny is helpful and hard-working, and she's funny and makes me laugh. Karine is comfortable to be with and I like her easy-going style. I'm glad they have come along to Hangzhou.
